| | I ran in the afternoon today which is something I usually don't do. I usually wake up around 4:45 am and run on the treadmill or outside if the weather permits. I did a 4 mile loop from my house and did it in my fastest time yet of 25:35. I am beginning the tapering process this week as I plan to run the Salt Lake Marathon on April 19th. I am hoping to qualify for the Boston Marathon with a time under 3:10:00. | |

I kept a good steady marathon pace average today of 7:13 for 13 miles. I noticed right off within the first mile that my right shoe was not laced tight enough as my foot was shifting in the shoe. I decided not to tighten though until mile 10 when I knew that the blister was there. I wish I would have done it much sooner. It probably didn't help that the socks that I was wearing were new and hadn't been washed yet.
From everything I've heard and read about tapering before a marathon, it was recommended that I run 12-14 miles today (2 weeks befoer the marathon). Does anyone else have any other tapering suggestions? | |
| | Easy 5 mile run on the treadmill in 40:20. | |
| | Ran 8 miles on the treadmill in 60:00. | |
| | Today I ran at a steady 6:49 pace and did 10 miles from my house down Geneva Road and over along the shores of Utah Lake. Everything felt really good as I prepare myself for next Saturday's marathon. I just hope the weather will be as nice as it was today. |
